CLASSIC LUXURY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY AT THE HISTORIC LAIRMONT MANOR

If you are looking for a stunning wedding venue in Washington State, you might want to consider the historic Lairmont Manor in Bellingham. This Italian Renaissance style home, built in 1914, offers a captivating blend of elegance and natural beauty that will make your wedding photos unforgettable.

In this blogpost, I will share some tips on how to capture the beauty of wedding photography at the Lairmont Manor, based on my experience as a professional wedding photographer there. You can view the full set of pictures here.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT TIME OF DAY

One of the most important factors that affect the quality of your wedding photos is the lighting. The Lairmont Manor has plenty of natural light sources, such as large windows, skylights, and outdoor spaces. However, depending on the time of day and the season, the light can vary in intensity, color, and direction.

To get the best results, I recommend choosing a time of day when the light is soft and flattering, such as the golden hour (the hour before sunset or after sunrise) or the blue hour (the hour after sunset or before sunrise). These times of day will create a warm and romantic atmosphere for your photos, and also avoid harsh shadows and glare.

If you are planning to have an indoor ceremony or reception, you can also use artificial lighting, such as candles, fairy lights, or chandeliers, to create a cozy and intimate mood. Just make sure to balance the artificial light with the natural light, and avoid using flash, as it can create unwanted reflections and distortions.

EXPLORE THE DIFFERENT SETTINGS

The Lairmont Manor has a variety of settings that you can use for your wedding photos, both indoors and outdoors. Each setting has its own charm and character, and I can mix and match them to create different moods and styles. Some of the most popular settings are:

  • The Fountain Garden: This is a beautiful outdoor space that features a fountain, a gazebo, and a manicured lawn. It is perfect for a garden ceremony, a cocktail hour, or a group photo. I can also use the fountain as a backdrop or a foreground element for your portraits, as it adds a dynamic and refreshing touch to your photos.
  • The Grand Ballroom: This is the main indoor space that can accommodate up to 200 guests. It has a high ceiling, a fireplace, a grand piano, and a large dance floor. It is ideal for a formal reception, a first dance, or a cake cutting. I can also use the fireplace, the piano, or the windows as props or frames for your photos, as they create a sense of elegance and sophistication.
  • The Pavilion: This is a covered outdoor space that can host up to 150 guests. It has a wooden floor, a stage, and a bar. It is great for a casual reception, a live band, or a buffet. I can also use the stage, the bar, or the pillars as focal points or backgrounds for your photos, as they create a sense of fun and energy.
  • The Manor: This is the original house that has been preserved and restored. It has several rooms, such as the library, the dining room, the sunroom, and the bridal suite. It is perfect for a small ceremony, a private dinner, or a getting ready session. I can also use the furniture, the books, the antiques, or the mirrors as accessories or reflections for your photos, as they create a sense of history and personality.

Creative and Fun

Lairmont Manor allows me to be creative and have fun with the happy couple. This venue is a treasure trove of luxury photo opportunities, and we can use our imagination and emotions to capture the beauty of your special day.

Some of the ways we can be creative and have fun are:

  • Use different angles and perspectives, such as low, high, wide, or close-up, to capture the details and the ambiance of the venue.
  • Use different lenses and filters, such as zoom, macro, or sepia, to create different effects and moods for your photos.
  • Use different poses and expressions, such as candid, romantic, or playful, to show your personality and your relationship with your partner and your guests.
  • Use different props and accessories, such as flowers, balloons, or hats, to add some color and humor to your photos.
